Assertiveness FAQs

Our online training is designed to re-create the classroom assertiveness course experience as closely as possible.

It is a live training session using Zoom or Teams and the trainer is there throughout.

The training is still hands-on and interactive so you’ll be discussing things with the trainer as they introduce different assertiveness concepts and tactics.

Finally, our trainers like to be able to see you!

If you don’t want to use a camera they will understand but they much prefer it if you have your camera on so they can see you as well as you being able to see them.

We don’t want to be the biggest training company but we are trying to be the best.

We have now won the Feefo Gold Award for customer service for 10  years in a row.

We always limit our classes to a maximum of 8 delegates but try to keep them smaller.

During 2019 our average class size was 4 people.

To back up our promise of great training we offer a 100% money-back guarantee.

If you aren’t much more confident about speaking up and saying ‘No’ when you return to work then we will have failed!

Our assertiveness courses combine traditional teaching to explain new concepts and tools with hands-on exercises and discussion to drive lasting behaviour change and development of your assertiveness.

The exercises ensure that you get plenty of time to practice the assertiveness skills you have just been taught and try things out.

They make sure that you have really understood how to set boundaries more effectively.

We also make sure that there is plenty of time for you to ask questions in case there is anything you are unsure of.

Our advanced assertiveness course is particularly practical with most of the day spent role-playing scenarios.

Please come to your assertiveness class wearing whatever you are most comfortable in, we do not have a dress code.

Most people come wearing casual clothes.

We provide everyone who completes one of our assertiveness training courses with a formal certificate to show that they have completed the course.

There are tried and tested techniques for building your self-confidence and assertiveness.

They do require you to put in the time and effort to practice them but if you do then you will see your assertiveness gradually increase.

Assertiveness is communicating your needs and requirements clearly. It also encourages others to so the same to ensure that everyone feels heard and understood.

Aggression is a single-minded pursuit of your goals regardless of the impact on others.

While assertive people can be tough and strong-willed about things that are important to them, the behaviour patterns behind aggression and assertive behaviour are worlds apart.

This is covered in beginners assertiveness skills course.

A typical work situation would be one where most or all of the other people in a meeting agree on something but you don’t.

If you’re assertive you would still feel happy expressing your views clearly so that people understand where you’re coming from and why you don’t agree.

In doing this you wouldn’t be aiming to ‘steamroller’ everyone else in the room into agreeing with you. You would be hoping that by expressing your opinion clearly you would be helping the group reach the best decision possible by bringing an alternative viewpoint.

People who need to improve their self-esteem and confidence often struggle with assertiveness.

They feel that by disagreeing they will stand out and potentially turn against them. They don’t understand that by having the confidence to express an unpopular opinion calmly people will actually value their input more.

This is why many business courses focused on assertiveness are also confidence skills training courses.

We offer on-site training across the UK.

We have run courses in Bristol, Watford, Croydon, Reading and Manchester over the last year.
