This session sets the scene by introducing you to Project Online Professional.

It covers:

• An introduction to the interface.
• The pros and cons of using Project Online.
• How is it licensed? What plans are available?
• What is Project Online Professional? How does it fit with Office 365?

In this section, you start using the software properly.

It starts with Project Web App (‘PWA’):

  • Uploading and viewing a project using PWA.
  • Opening your project to edit it in your browser.
  • Walkthrough of the ribbon.
  • Editing your project (eg adding tasks and projects to timeline).
  • Saving and publishing changes.
  • Exporting your data to Excel and / or printing your project.
  • Saving a site to use as a template.

This section focuses on working with Resources.

It covers:

  • Introduction to resources.
  • Adding new resources manually and uploading with Project file.
  • Assigning, matching and allocating resources to tasks.
  • Viewing assignments, Resource Capacity Planning and also Resource requests.
  • Saving and publishing changes, exporting resources to Excel.

This section looks at the Project site which is associated with your project.

It covers:

  • Introduction to the Project SharePoint site associated with your project. How to share it.
  • Permissions for your site – who can do what? Adding and removing permissions.
  • The document library. Where is it? How do you add / remove documents from it?
  • Meetings and appointments.

This section covers:

  • Setting up timesheets and categories.
  • Working with and reporting on timesheets.
  • Timesheet managers and adding information to timesheets.

This final section focuses on tracking and managing your projects.

It covers:

  • Establishing a baseline.
  • Using deliverables, risks and issues.
  • Adding actuals and submitting status reports.
  • Using PWA reports, the Project Overview dashboard and the Project and Resource overview.

Is This The Right Course?

This course is for professional project managers and assumes that you have prior experience with SharePoint and Project. 

If you do not have prior experience of using Microsoft Project, we would recommend that you do our introduction to Microsoft Project course before attending.

Our courses run from 9.30 am to roughly 4.30 pm with refreshments and biscuits throughout the day and a break for lunch.

Online Training Requirements

To attend this Project course online, you will need:

MS Project on your Windows PC/laptop with a camera, speakers & microphone
A stable internet connection capable of running Zoom
To be a confident computer user and able to use Zoom to attend the course
