Assertiveness Training – Move from Compromise to Success

Everyone wants to increase their chance of success in any interaction whether this is at work or socially. We talk a great deal about using assertiveness and the key is being able to deal with and influence others with confidence. The ability to choose the appropriate behaviour and words for any situation stems from a clear objective about your desired outcome, self-confidence and a clear understanding of yourself and others.

Delegates will complete this one day assertiveness training course having considered people and situations that they currently find difficult/challenging and worked towards ways of dealing effectively with these scenarios when they return to the workplace. We will explore assertion, non-assertion and aggression as behaviours and the impact that they have on our relationships/interactions with others.

The course is instructor led in a very practical and relaxed way enabling delegates to discover what currently holds them back and explore new ideas, techniques and behaviours in a highly supportive environment.

There are no prerequisites to attend this course.

It is helpful if before attending the courses delegates can try to think of
scenarios in which they struggle to assert themselves and also scenarios in which they have successfully communicated assertively.

Our courses run from 9.30 am to approximately 4.30pm. While you are with us we are focused on offering you a relaxed and productive learning environment. When you book a course with use you get the following:

  • A full colour assertiveness training manual.
  • Freshly prepared lunch in our onsite cafeteria.
  • Refreshments though out the day.
  • Training in fully air conditioned facilities from an experienced assertive communication instructor.

This course does not run to a 100% set agenda. We will speak to the attendees to understand the issues that they would like to focus on most and adjust the areas of focus in the course accordingly.

All of our assertiveness courses do however cover the following key topics.

  • Improving your confidence to deal with people and situations you find difficult
  • Understanding the impact your beliefs about yourself and situations can have on the outcome.
  • Learning how changing your beliefs about yourself can enable you to become more effective as a result
  • Behaviour: assertive, non-assertive and aggressive
  • Dealing with others effectively to achieve the desired result
  • How to say “No” whilst being yourself
  • Accepting praise and criticism
  • How to contribute effectively in meetings and as part of a team
  • Your plan for future self-development
